WELCOME!
In South Africa, the relationship between patients and practitioners rests on shared principles of ethics, equality, and evidence.

These are the foundations of care, written into our Constitution, our professional codes, and our shared humanity.

Follow along as we explore how dignity and ethics protect everyone.

#Healthcarewithoutprejudice
About Us
SATR is an educational initiative focused on professional ethics in South African healthcare. We encourage reflection on the shared principles that guide both patients and practitioners: respect, honesty, compassion, and non-discrimination.

Our work draws directly from the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, International Guidelines and Standards of Care, as well as regulatory authorities such as the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).

These frameworks affirm that dignity, equality, and evidence-based care are not optional values, they are legal and professional obligations.

ETHICS. EQUALITY. EVIDENCE.
Gender-Affirming Healthcare (GAHC)
Gender-affirming healthcare is recognised worldwide as essential, evidence-based healthcare. Upholding access to such care is consistent with the ethical duties of beneficence and non-maleficence, alongside our Constitution’s commitment to Human Rights.

Ensuring that all patients receive care free from prejudice is part of the ethical responsibility shared by all healthcare professionals.

We aim to foster a professional culture that integrates constitutional values into everyday clinical practice - where ethical care saves lives and dignity is the standard, not the exception.
