Our Purpose
southafricantransrights.org is an educational initiative dedicated to raising awareness about ethical, rights-affirming, and evidence-based healthcare in South Africa.
Our focus is on education - helping both healthcare professionals and the public understand how constitutional rights, ethical guidelines, and the principles of Ubuntu shape the standard of care.

We do not provide clinical or individual support. Instead, our role is to share accurate, accessible information that promotes reflection, learning, and accountability within the healthcare community.
Our Foundation
Our work is grounded in South Africa’s Constitution, the National Patients’ Rights Charter, and the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) Booklets on Professional Conduct and Ethics.
These frameworks affirm that dignity, equality, and respect are not optional ideals but professional and legal obligations.

We are also guided by the principles of Ubuntu - the belief in our shared humanity and mutual responsibility. Ubuntu reminds us that compassionate, respectful healthcare strengthens not only individuals, but the collective wellbeing of our society.
Our Focus
southafricantransrights.org presents medical ethics as civic education.
Through clear and factual communication, we highlight how professional obligations and human rights intersect, particularly in relation to gender-affirming care.
This form of care is internationally recognised as evidence-based and life-saving. Providing it is not activism- it is a professional duty aligned with beneficence, non-maleficence, and justice, and with South Africa’s constitutional commitment to equality and dignity.

By connecting ethics, evidence, and law, our campaign aims to increase understanding, counter misinformation, and encourage ethical reflection among health professionals and the public alike.
Our Vision
We envision a South African healthcare system where constitutional values and professional ethics are inseparable — and where the principle of Ubuntu guides every interaction between practitioner and patient.
Our goal is awareness, not advocacy: to make it unmistakably clear that ethical, rights-based healthcare is already part of our professional and legal framework.

Ethics. Equality. Evidence.
